The Duke basketball program improved to 4–0 with a commanding 100–62 win over Indiana State, and freshman phenom Cameron Boozer used the night to launch himself into college basketball history.

Boozer exploded for 35 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and three steals, shooting an outrageous 13-of-16 from the floor and 2-for-2 from three. It was the first game this season where he controlled every minute — offense, defense, pace, everything.

Entering his freshman year judged by many as the best newcomer in the country, Boozer is living up to every ounce of hype. Some 2026 NBA mock drafts even have him sitting at No. 1 overall, and nights like this only make that projection look safer.

Cameron Boozer makes college basketball history with elite performance

Boozer’s stat line wasn’t just dominant — it was unprecedented. His 35/12/5 showing came in just 29 minutes, the fewest minutes in college basketball history in which a player has ever reached those numbers.

For a freshman to do that? Almost unthinkable.

After being inexplicably left off the ACC Player and Rookie of the Week lists to open the season, Boozer responded with a performance that sent a not-so-subtle message: overlook him at your own risk.

And with one of the strongest freshman classes in recent years, Boozer’s ability to deliver consistently will shape how high he rises. If Friday’s game was any indication, the ceiling is sky-high.

Next up for Duke is its biggest early-season test — a showdown with No. 25 Kansas at Madison Square Garden in the State Farm Champions Classic. If Boozer brings anything close to what he showed against Indiana State, MSG might walk away with a brand-new star to obsess over.
