Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are celebrating in royal — and baseball — fashion after the Los Angeles Dodgers’ thrilling World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night.
Following the Dodgers’ dramatic 11-inning win on November 1, the Duchess of Sussex shared a playful video on Instagram capturing the couple’s excitement. In the short clip, Prince Harry, 41, lounges comfortably in a private theater while Markle, 44, cheers him on from behind the camera. Moments later, she bursts into frame, runs up to him, and plants a kiss as she exclaims, “Oh my god!”
The adorable moment quickly made waves among fans, offering a glimpse into the couple’s home life — and their love of the Dodgers.
Their celebration comes just days after the pair drew mixed reactions for attending Game 4 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium. When their faces appeared on the Jumbotron, a portion of the crowd booed, though the Sussexes appeared unfazed. Seated in prime spots alongside sports icons like Magic Johnson and Dodgers legend Sandy Koufax, they smiled, chatted, and posed for photos throughout the night.
Despite the backlash, Markle’s Dodgers fandom might run deeper than most realize. According to The Boston Globe, she actually shares distant family ties with Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts. Their great-great relatives — Markle’s great-great-aunt Katie Betts and Betts’ great-great-uncle Richard Betts — married in 1920, connecting their family trees by marriage.
Their ancestors, Jacob and Joseph Betts, even lived side by side in Madison County, Alabama. When the link surfaced back in 2018, Betts admitted he was caught off guard.
“I saw on TV that they were getting married, but I had no idea we were related,” he said at the time. “That’s not something you expect to hear, but it’s interesting.”
He even added with a laugh, “Meeting her would be cool — I wonder if she’s a baseball fan?”
Well, after Saturday night’s celebration, it’s safe to say he has his answer.
